Commercial sales jobs in IT security needed?
22 January 2010
Commercial sales jobs in the information technology security sector may be a requirement following the news that many firms and individuals are failing to properly safeguard their systems.
A recent study by Imperva revealed that 50 per cent of people who are computer users fail to have effective passwords in place, with many using names, dictionary words or trivial phrases.
Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos, said the research is "depressingly predictable".
He noted that the general public and organisations are widely unaware of how easy it is for hackers to bombard online accounts with thousands of predictable log-in choices.
Professionals can simply launch a dictionary attack on a computer, Mr Cluley stated, so that information guarded by simple words and phrases can be broken into.
According to the expert, having strong protection could help to prevent identity theft and sensitive data falling into the wrong hands.
The most common codes the Imperva survey highlighted included Password, 12345 and iloveyou.
