Potential professional services workers 'need skill base'
4 June 2010
Individuals interested in professional services roles may want to ensure they have the right skill level for their chosen field, according to one expert.
Lisette Howlett, managing director and founder of HireScores.com, noted that if companies have been holding a "key vacancy" for an extended period, they will be looking to employ someone who can "hit the decks running".
"Employers will be less willing to invest in training and development and more likely to be looking for someone who is fully qualified," she added.
Her advice to graduates is simple, get into the market as soon as they possibly can, which may interest commercials
sales jobs seekers.
Internships and seasonal work should be maximised in order to develop a relationship with organisations that work in the field a person hopes to enter, Ms Howlett commented.
The Summer Graduate Fair - the largest event of its kind - took place yesterday (June 3rd), with a number of top graduate employers in attendance.
