Professional services employees 'could benefit from modern communications'
17 June 2010
Commercial sales jobs seekers could be hired from a wider geographical area if businesses utilise modern communications methods.
This is the view of Hugo Harber, director of convergence and network strategy at Star, who suggested cutting out travel time and expenditure could be good for both businesses and employees.
In his opinion, carrying out more work using phones, email and web meetings means that people in
commercial sales jobs are not obliged to come into the office.
He suggested it could increase productivity if people are able to communicate more easily and have no need to travel.
"It allows businesses to recruit outside their immediate area, for example, an M25-based company can recruit from cheaper areas," explained Mr Harber.
These comments follow research from Frost & Sullivan, which claimed that unified communications could help businesses to cut energy costs.
The research firm suggested there may be more take-up of such techniques in the future.
