Budget could boost IT and telecoms jobs
24 June 2010
Chancellor George Osborne's Budget speech this week could create jobs across various sectors, including IT and telecoms.
The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) praised the chancellor's Budget, stating that it featured tackling business taxation at its heart.
Kevin Green, chief executive of the REC, said: "It is clear that the private sector will need to grow jobs as the public sector sheds them and this Budget sets the framework for this to happen."
He added that measures such as the rise in the threshold for national insurance will benefit people, including those working in
jobs in sales, because it would have had an impact on businesses' ability to employ staff.
Mr Green said reductions in small business tax and corporation tax could make Britain a more attractive destination for overseas investors.
Next week, the REC will be visiting Reading, Bristol and Cardiff as part of its On the Road series of regional events, which will bring members up to date on the state of the economy.
