Construction sales jobs 'boosted by PBR'
11 December 2009
Construction sales jobs seekers could be boosted by chancellor Alistair Darling's Pre-Budget Report (PBR), one government official has suggested.
Housing minister John Healey noted that the continued allocation of funding to the Kickstart programme should help the building services sector and first-time buyers.
He remarked: "We will
continue to use the power of government investment to support the construction industry."
According to Mr Healey, the Kickstart initiative - which provides financing to get stalled housebuilding projects moving again - is the biggest venture of its kind in nearly 20 years.
The housing minister went on to say that 3,000 new residences are to be built over the course of next year through funding.
Furthermore, it is important that the government "explores new ways" of providing guidance to construction firms on how to create sustainable properties for the future, he added.
Mr Darling announced the PBR on Wednesday December 9th at 12:30 GMT.
