London transport initiatives 'to require building services'
16 December 2009
Building services jobs seekers may be encouraged to hear that £3.7 million worth of construction work will be required to upgrade transport services in Tower Hamlets.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson confirmed the funding, which he noted is to be used throughout 2010-11 for a range of repair and maintenance schemes.
He remarked: "The investment means that across the capital, town centres and public spaces are being overhauled, cycling and walking facilities are being improved and roads are being made safer."
The financing will be used to complete £428,000 of improvements to Bethnal Green Road, such as increasing cycle parking and strengthening the existing crossing services.
Other projects to be given the green light include £150,000 for enhancements to New Road and £420,000 for pedestrianisation and the implementation of a 20 mph zone in Manchester Road, Island Gardens and Stebondale.
The announcement follows similar investment into transport services ventures in Harrow, Brent and Ealing.
