Building services firm wins education initiatives
18 December 2009
Those seeking jobs in the building services sector may be encouraged to hear that one industry giant has landed two construction contracts in the education sector.
Worth a combined amount of more than £90 million, the deals will see Kier provide work on learning institutions in both Northumberland and Cambridgeshire.
For the former, the firm is developing three Church of England academies worth £46 million for the local council, with the Duke of Northumberland sponsoring the project.
Kier will also be building two new schools worth a total of £44.1 million as part of the Equitix Consortium under the Fenland Building Schools for the Future programme.
Group chief executive of the company John Dodds said: "We are delighted to have been chosen to take these projects forward, cementing our position as one of the country's major builders of education infrastructure."
In recent news, the organisation celebrated the starting of work on a £28 million academy in Brighton.
