Building services jobs 'made easier by new planning system'
24 December 2009
People in building services jobs may be about to benefit from new measures being brought in to speed up project delivery.
Under the proposals, announced by housing minister John Healey, councillors and developers would be more cooperative before applications are submitted to ensure the process is speeded up.
According to the Department for Communities and Local Government, the changes should save both time and money by bringing down the number of conditions applied to gaining planning permission.
Commenting on the modifications, Mr Healey said that streamlining this part of the system "is crucial" in helping the UK emerge from the recession successfully.
He remarked: "By cooperating from the drawing board to the last brick being laid, proposals will get through the planning system faster and barriers that stall projects will be removed."
Earlier this month, the housing minister revealed that up to 12,000 building services jobs could be secured through the second phase of the government's Kickstart programme.
