Costain to work on contracts worth £850m this year
7 January 2010
Those seeking
construction sales jobs may be interested to note that Costain has over £850 million in work secured for 2010.
In a trading update, the construction group said that despite the difficult economic climate, it still has more projects lined up than it did at the same time last year.
A number of "major" contracts have been added to its order book over the past few months, the company said, including a five-year water framework deal with Severn Trent and United Utilities, work on the Sellafield nuclear project, a Manchester Waste arrangement and a number of highways contracts.
As a result, the group's forward order book was up to £2.6 billion at December 31st 2009 and chief executive Andrew Wyllie said that the company is focusing on working with customers "who are expected to continue with their major investment programmes despite the current economic environment".
The business was founded in 1865 and was floated as a public company in 1933.
