Building services giant announces successful year
20 January 2010
Building services organisation Balfour Beatty has revealed a successful year in its latest trading update.
The construction giant stated that its performance throughout 2009 was largely in line with expectations of making "good progress" despite the economic downturn.
"Our balance sheet and financial position remain strong, with average net cash for the second half of the year being in excess of £300 million," the firm said.
According to the enterprise, it currently has a "high-quality order book" with business totalling approximately £13.7 million and is expecting similarly impressive figures for 2010.
Particular projects highlighted as contributing to the company's accomplishments over the last 12 months included the acquisition of US-based professional services specialist Parsons Brinckerhoff and strong activity in Building Schools for the Future programmes.
In recent news, Balfour Beatty announced it landed a BSF contract worth £450 million for over 30 educational facilities in areas of Blackburn, Darwen and Bolton.
