Heating and plumbing costs 'to dip' due to scrappage scheme
16 February 2010
Those in
construction sales jobs may be encouraged to hear that there is a demand for the boiler scrappage scheme, it has been revealed.
Gordon Miller, founder of whatgreenhome.com, believes that it is an excellent system and he would like to see it rolled out over all types of heating and plumbing and not just G-rated ones - which have a permanent pilot light or are over 15 years old and gas-fired or 25 years old and oil-fired.
And he points to the proposal put forward by the Conservative Party to give every household £6,500 to green their home - should it be elected - as a positive step forward.
Mr Miller added: "The boiler scrappage scheme was advocated from people within the industry for quite some time before it was actually announced."
His comments follow a recent statement by the government that 43.8 per cent of available vouchers for the plan have already been used, leaving around 70,000 coupons still there to be claimed - with the initiative helping people save up to £200 a year on their fuel bills.
