New competition could appeal to workers in heating & plumbing jobs
28 July 2010
Workers employed in
construction sales jobs may be interested to hear about a new competition being run by the BBC, which is aiming to find the best young plumber in the UK.
Entrants must be aged between 16 and 25 years old and be ready to become an ambassador for the profession, although the deadline for applications is July 31st.
The contest is all part of the Young Talent of the Year series showing on BBC3, which is also looking to find youngsters to represent several other jobs, such as beauticians, butchers and fishmongers.
According to the broadcaster, the aim of the project is to celebrate the work and skills of people in more conventional trades, as opposed to the singers and dancers that dominate most talent programmes currently airing.
This week, the Association of Plumbing & Heating contractors of England and Wales revealed it is aiming to boost global sanitation standards through a new agreement with the International Code Council.
