Subsea 7 lands Nexen contract
1 May 2009
An engineering and construction firm has revealed it has landed a three-year contract with Nexen Petroleum.
Subsea 7 will carry out field development work on all the UK assets of the fuel company and will be involved in project management, fabrication, procurement and installation programmes.
In addition to the initial three-year agreement, Subsea may be able to secure future one or two-year extensions, with the potential to provide inspection, repair and maintenance services.
Regional vice president for the engineering organisation Robin Davies said: "Subsea 7 has demonstrated in recent years its ability to deliver subsea projects safely, on time and on budget."
He added that the firm will work alongside Nexen in order to "reduce costs and maximise efficiencies".
Meanwhile, PricewaterhouseCoopers director of strategy Matthew Alabaster has said that the UK should show more pride towards its engineering industry, adding that the sector will help to take the economy "forward" in the coming months.
