Engineering sales jobs 'could be created through sustainable power'
14 January 2010
Engineering sales jobs seekers may be interested to learn that one expert believes green energy is to provide a large number of vacancies for the industry.
Angela Gallacher, spokesperson from the Renewable Energy Centre, said that sustainable power sources are a fast-growth sector and are likely to "become a large player in the future".
She remarked: "It is essential that the UK is prepared and equipped to be able to fill the jobs which already have and will open up."
According to Ms Gallacher, green energy could help Britain to secure a "second chance" as one of the world's leading industrial nations and could provide a secure manufacturing foundation for the next generation.
Her comments followed the announcement by The Crown Estate of the successful bidders for each of the nine offshore wind zones as part of its Round 3 initiative.
The scheme aims to supply 25 per cent of the country's energy requirements by 2020.
