Electrical industries report order increase in Scotland
2 March 2010
Engineering sales jobs seekers in Scotland may be encouraged to learn that it has been suggested the industry north of the border is showing signs of recovery.
A quarterly study by Scottish Engineering found that improvements had been sustained in the final quarter of 2009, the BBC reports.
The news provider observed that orders were up by 42 per cent in large engineering firms, with electronic companies recording a 41 per cent rise in deals.
In comments from the review, Scottish Engineering's chief executive Peter Hughes stated that the government had failed to produce any significant planning for training.
He told the information outlet: "Our sector has failed to break through into the positive area on all fronts, [but] the signs are at least indicating that we are heading in the right direction."
It was recently suggested that the manufacturing sector could be set to improve after the Confederation of British Industry's monthly Industrial Trends Survey stated that 14 per cent of manufacturers had recorded above-average exports.
