Power generation and transmission jobs 'to increase'
9 March 2010
Engineering sales jobs seekers may be interested to know that more wind turbines are to be built beside industry premises.
Dale Vince, founder and managing director of Ecotricity, noted that by having electrical stations near services, the energy that is produced could then be used for operational purposes.
Over ten years ago his company began the Merchant Wind Power programme, which has attracted names such as Ford and B&Q - while sites are being developed with Lotus, Honda and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital..
"Modern windmill designs are extremely efficient and getting the most from them depends on careful planning and the wind potential at each location, whether that's a brownfield or greenfield site," Mr Vince added.
The news comes after the recent announcement that Richard Nourse, managing partner of investment firm Novus Modus, wants to build wind turbines in industrial areas in the hope that it will lead to more planning proposals being approved.
