Sales jobs 'could benefit from export increases'
4 February 2010
Those seeking
sales jobs may be interested to know that exports volumes for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) grew in the three months to January for the first time since 2008.
The information was released in the Confederation of British Industry's (CBI) quarterly SME Trends Survey and it shows that 27 per cent of companies saw an increase, with 25 per cent recording a reduction.
And the investigation revealed that exports are expected to grow again in the next quarter - with an overall balance of eight per cent predicted.
Phil McCabe, a spokesman for the Forum of Private Business, said: "It's a positive development that exporting could be a way out of economic difficulties for many businesses and it's certainly something that they should explore as a matter of course."
The study also found that firms are more optimistic about export prospects for the year ahead than at any other time since October 1995.
